Making Sense
The influence of Ai Weiwei, one of the most significant and recognised artists of our time, guides this story exploring the tension between past and present, hand and machine. Outfits have a relaxed authenticity with structured and practical fabrics of padded cottons, corduroy, hemp and organic cotton checks. Knitwear showcases traditional stiches in merino, lambswool and the smoothest cotton. Reflecting the Asian influence, delicate prints of abstract blossoms contrast with workwear styling – indigo-dyed culottes, check shirts layered with sleeveless knits, with the hero piece a simple corduroy duvet coat. Monochrome separates layers with shades of blue whilst hues of lilac, pink and cream lift the palette.
